21-year-old soldier Hannah Foraker from Cleveland, Ohio said one of the hardest parts of leaving to train in the army was being separated from her beloved animals.
Foraker said, “I’ve never been away from home before. I’ve lived a very sheltered life. To have to leave to go to another state alone in a stressful environment like basic training was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
She went off for basic training in September, and would only be returning home during the holidays for a brief time.
Foraker had to leave behind her family, her horse, Derby, and her 13-year-old golden retriever, Buddy.
